A. Black. Lotus. Land. You. Don't. Sacrifice.

Wow!

It's called Lotus Vale, dude.

It's already a card. On the Reserved List.

Which I think all they're doing is gluing reserved list cards on the back of DFCs.

Next Up:

Strange Bauble 0
Artifact
At the beginning of your end step, if you control "whatever", transform this card

Black Pearl
Artifact
T, Sacrifice Black Pearl: Add three mana of one color to your mana pool.

I'm thrilled at this new Vale.

The equipment is pretty solid. And the land is great.

So if you animated all the artifacts and made all creatures you controlled humans, could you flip them with Moonmist?

I sort of assumed the new Vale was legendary, and just now noticed it isn't.

Nor was Lotus Vale, obv.

I really like this card.

Also..

Pretty sure that's how it works.

Karn, Silver Golem and Runed Stalactite will keep it in a single colour identity too.

Some good black uncommons this time around.

Interesting color-shifted Browbeat. 9 Life over 5 life; but incrementible to only block the cards you don't want them to have. Will be interesting to see how it plays in decks.

Notably the cards you don't get (i.e. that an opponent pays life for) are exiled, not put into the graveyard

Somehow missed that on the first read-through. So, unplayable worse-browbeat (to me at least).

Still pretty decent, especially if you can utilize Top/Sylvan Library/Brainstorm shenanigans to make it so that it hits three weak cards.

Also the Knave can go infinite with March of the Machines, an anthem, one other creature, and any of the Doubling Season variants.

EDIT: I am stupid, it's only infinite ETB/death triggers.

Actually, it's even worse then that. Your Treasure has summoning sickness and can't be sacrificed for mana. So you *also* need a way to give your Treasures haste.

My general commander philosophy: Using your opponent's degenerate cards against them is far more satisfying than playing degenerate cards yourself.

Aha! We now know the reason WotC used Treasures with "{T}, sac:" rather than the already-established Gold with simply "sac:" - it was the brokenness of this combo! Good catch, WotC. The formats are safe from the terror of this potential 5-card infinitely-break-even combo.

Another great cantrip to go in an Ink-Treader style deck. Or, you know, most any deck that like to reuse its creatures and can afford 2 mana.

I'm pretty sure it had to do with the Improvise mechanic being really strong with Gold tokens.

Regarding the following card:

Image

Isn't it disappointing that they still don't consider the format's different starting life total? Or at least they didn't here.
I can understand going for the more straightforward template on commons and uncommons (Ruthless Cullblade is not often going to be considered for EDH anyway), but I thought for rares we had left it behind.

What I mean is Arguel's Blood Fast wouldn't break anything if it read: "At the beginning of your upkeep, if your life total is less than a quarter of your starting life total, transform this."

Although some decks are going to prefer the Greed effect anyway, another Diamond Valley would have been nice too, if only it weren't so difficult to transform...
