Hi to all,

I will try to rekindle my gaming's group love for MTG and I think Commander might be the ideal format for that.
However, our group is now only 3 people, meaning that most our sessions involve 3-player games. When we used to play magic, we would play with stndard-legal decks, using a kind of prey-predator format. Still, kingmaking was quite prevalent and the variant always seem a bit too chaotic.

Hence, I wonder if 3-player is better in that respect and whether some house rules could be added to prevent some kingmaking.
Or should it be addressed in deckbuilding ?
Any advice in that regard ?

thanks a lot !

I remember vaguely from some time back a 3-player variant in which the 2 non-active players shared damage/life loss. Everyone still has an independent life total. The active player attacks--but both NAP are the defender. Either can block, but if damage gets through, both players take it. This obviously adds a strategic layer since you might not care about blocking, but it's pretty important to the other player. Basically, the game is 2v1, but who the 1 is changes with the turn.
