In my playgroup we tend to use certain "theme" decks and i thought of creating one with massive board wipes of creatures, lands and whatever might be on the field. I came up with the following ideas for the decklist, but i would like your opinions and honest criticism about how you believe this deck can actualy do something in a game, and if not, what you believe i should change to make it work.

Commander
Tariel, Reckoner of Souls

Wrath/Armageddon effects
Akroma's Vengeance
Austere Command
Catastrophe
Final Judgment
Kirtar's Wrath
Martial Coup
Phyrexian Rebirth
Planar Cleansing
Rout
Sunscour
Wrath of God
Armageddon
March of Souls
Ravages of War
Black Sun's Zenith
Damnation
Death Cloud
Decree of Pain
Life's Finale
Plague Wind
Do or Die
Overwhelming Forces
Apocalypse
Breaking Point
Decree of Annihilation
Destructive Force
Devastation
Jokulhaups
Obliterate
Boom // Bust
Epicenter
Price of Glory
Worldfire

Creatures
Sunblast Angel
Mageta the Lion
Myojin of Cleansing Fire
Desolation Angel
Dread Cacodemon
Reiver Demon
Desolation Giant
Myojin of Infinite Rage
Mine Layer
Norin the Wary
Twilight Shepherd
Grim Lavamancer
Mangara of Corondor
Avatar of Woe
Dega Disciple
Magus of the Disk

Artifacts
Mangara's Tome
Cauldron of Souls
That Which Was Taken
Scourglass
Nevinyrral's Disk

Planeswalkers
Elspeth, Knight-Errant
Ajani Vengeant
Koth of the Hammer

I still havent decided on any lands but i was thinking of keeping it basic lands with the addition of Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Emeria, the Sky Ruin, since with all the destruction and mayhem it wont realy matter what lands are in play.

I think you're going to have three problems with this deck:

  • It's not much fun to play against. Seriously, people like playing cards.
  • The mass LD sorceries are bad in multiples. For example, if you have Armageddon, Obliterate, and Catastrophe in your opening hand, then you're likely to play the 'geddon, then have two uncastable cards rot in your hand until the end of time.
  • Your curve is high, so you're liable to get beat to death by utility dorks after you destroy everyone's lands.

Also, Worldfire is banned, so your evil scheme of Worldfire into Grim Lavamancer won't work :(

i hadn't seen the new ban on worldfire... thnx for the info and after some discussion with my playgroup, i've decided not to create this deck anyhow. I might find an alternate which will include a few of the cards above but most certainly not all of them.

Hey there! I created a Tariel deck that's also highly tuned for flavor (while having definite and intentional mechanical themes too).

Instead of being actually based around Armageddon effects (despite the awesome name of the card), it just evokes apocalyptic war, like the Immersturm.
It does take a completely opposite approach, though. Instead of trying to control via destruction, it tries to be the threat. Because player removal is more fun than mass creature removal.

Hope you get some ideas!

very nice :) on a glance i found your deck very interesting :p i will take the time too look at it in more detail when i get the chance, but it does seem like a very good starting point for my new-will-be-tariel deck :) thank you very much!
