My goal with this deck is to provide synergy for Ashling and not just the standard blow-up-the-board system.

Key cards:
Magebane Armor: Blow up Ashling without having to replay him!
Loxodon Warhammer: Hitting a crapload of targets for AE lifelink? Yes please!
Deathtouch Equipment: Great for killing everything regardless of size.
Vicious Shadows: Because the only thing more fun then blowing up all the creatures is blowing up all the control players.

1 Ashling the Pilgrim

1 Act of Treason
1 Threaten
1 Word of Seizing
1 Vicious Shadows
1 Wild Ricochet
1 Relentless Assault
1 Seize the Day
1 Fury Charm

1 Soul's Fire
1 Lightning Bolt
1 Incinerate
1 Flame Javelin
1 Fiery Fall
1 Puncture Blast
1 Spitting Earth
1 Dead // Gone
1 Seismic Strike
1 Chandra Nalaar

1 Blaze
1 Fireball
1 Demonfire
1 Banefire

1 Earthquake
1 Volcanic Fallout
1 Flame Wave
1 Flowstone Slide

1 Hissing Iguanar
1 Siege-Gang Commander
1 Shivan Dragon
1 Magma Phoenix
1 Bogardan Hellkite
1 Rakka Mar
1 Flameblast Dragon
1 Akroma, Angel of Fury
1 Flametongue Kavu
1 Rakdos Pit Dragon
1 Bloodfire Colossus
1 Hateflayer
1 Hostility
1 Stigma Lasher
1 Platinum Angel
1 Torchling
1 Jade Statue

1 Diviner's Wand
1 Candles of Leng
1 Loxodon Warhammer
1 Magebane Armor
1 Gorgon Flail
1 Quietus Spike
1 Dragon's Claw
1 Lightning Greaves
1 Whispersilk Cloak
1 Runed Stalactite
1 Viridian Longbow

1 Mind Stone
1 Seething Song
1 Foriysian Totem

39 Mountain
1 Gargoyle Castle
1 Keldon Megaliths
1 Reliquary Tower

The deck is built off cards I currently own, which means it lacks some particularly useful EDH cards like Feldon's Cane.

Does this seem a feasible plan for a deck? Any cards stand out as bad ideas or unlikely to be useful? Any cards not in here that would be really sweet? Your input is appreciated.

Sword of Fire and Ice, definitely. A creature that has protection from itself and a mass damaging ability can be insane. (Crypt Rats + Sword of Light and Shadow is probably my favorite synergy in my Xiahou deck.) Godo, Bandit Warlord would also be useful for fetching the Sword or Magebane Armor or whatever you happen to need at the moment. Godo hitting twice with the Sword equipped is also sweet.

Gauntlet of Might could be a bit too expensive for you, but Gauntlet of Power and Extraplanar Lens are also good in monocolor decks. For your X-spells, I think Fault Line or Molten Disaster would be better than Earthquake because the 1 mana usually doesn't make a huge difference in EDH. For the same reason you could play Rolling Thunder over Blaze, or at least replace it with a strictly better version like Ghitu Fire or Disintegrate. Oh, and Unwilling Recruit is almost always better than Threaten in mono-R.

Whoops, I never owned one of the black Ashling's, only the red, and assumed she was a he. From the art and the flavor text I now see I was mistaken.

Thanks for the cool ideas on cards, it looks like a lot of those (barring the sword) are pretty cheap to pick up.

Does that still work if the creature dies to the damage? It's in the graveyard instead of in play, so can the trigger still "find" it?

Like deathtouch and lifelink, the Sword of Kaldra ability will look at the game-state before the event to determine if anything triggers.

Ok, post-M10 rules those are bad examples, but the underpinning rule remains.

The damage is dealt during the resolution of Ashling's triggered ability, and the RFG ability triggers when that damage is dealt. After the RFG has triggered the explosion finishes resolving. Then all the dead creatures are put into the graveyard, and then RFG trigger then goes on the stack and players receive priority.

The key thing to note here is that abilities can trigger even when they can't go on the stack: they just end up waiting until they can.

since the rfg trigger is not a zonechange trigger, it will not look onto the board position just before the damaged creature hits the graveyard.
it will trigger after damage is dealt, state base effects put all lethally wounded creatures away and if the creature card in question now resides in a graveyard, it will stay there.

I understand that it still triggers, but I thought the only way an ability could keep track of a card that changes zones is if it's specifically looking for that zone change. As I understand it, it works like Ymirsson said: the damage is dealt, it triggers once for each creature hit, creatures that took enough damage to die go to the graveyard, then the triggers go on the stack, and any of them that try to exile a creature that died can't find that creature to exile it.

Sword of Kaldra works much better with something like Plague Rats or Plague Spitter. Of course those are in black and one shot deals.
If you want something in color, try Ronin Cliffrider.

Either one also work well with Neko-Te.

That's not ban-worthy, that's the spirit of EDH. Three-card combo involving the combat phase? Awesome.

Chandra Ablaze is good for obvious reasons. You should also have Spire Barrage and Jaws of Stone. And I would increase the land count--your general is a massive mana sink and you have plenty of expensive spells, so I think you can afford a few extra lands. Maybe use Kher Keep. Braid of Fire is tech in Ashling. And Sensei's Divining Top is always nice to have.

Coalhauler swine, basically doubles the damage to players from an ashling blow-up.
