The "let's see what everybody is playing" trick gets old really fast.

Abe, you might remember my username from some of the comments from back before they switched to FB ;).

This is funny, because we must have seen each other's posts there :) I liked SCG's forum (well, the article section) because it was a place where there was some decent discussion about the articles, with the authors chiming in on a regular basis. That SCG nixed the forum and went to frontpage datamining plugins was a real bummer.

I recognise what you say about reading less: for me, my interest in magic articles declined when Wizards, and subsequently every website, changed their publishing time: I used to get out of bed and start reading fresh content. Nowadays the content is published a few minutes before I get out of the train that takes me from work to home (well, I do not live in a train station, but I guess you get the point), which gives me just enough times to check some sites for the titles of the articles, not even the articles themselves. Ages ago I even read about drafting (and I hate drafting) if an author I liked wrote about it, and I read everything on every constructed format published on the mothership and SCG. Today, I only read commander content, even when Bennie writes about his neverending quest to achieve anything in standard with his golgari concoctions (OK, maybe I still read those occasionally to check if he succeeded, and no, dredge doesn't count). But I still read all Abe's articles.

What also didn't exactly help is the end of Google Reader.

What Abe writes for Mananation Gatheringmagic Coolstuffinc(tm) is a bit different from what he wrote on SCG. Or well, perhaps not that different, but he writes more than one article each week, so he writes different styles of articles. That is not something you see with other MTG writers, or at least not on a regular basis.

Actually like half a year ago someone recognized me from MOTL, that was quite impressive considering I had last posted there in like '02 or '03 and never posted all that much. But yeah, we may have very well ran into each other there. Abe was always a good sport and often responded to comments. I remember discussing inter-game politics with him (where actions in one game influence games down the road, in the simplest form someone taking revenge) and quite enjoying the discussion.

I just found myself occupied in different ways. There even was a time I was gradually going through SCG's backlog to read Rizzo and Wakefield, but I suppose Discord, Facebook, Twitter and other social media distracted me too much. I've even dropped to reading only a few of quietspeculation.com's articles a week (always Sigmund's, sometimes others, but that's not EDH content). I also changed jobs, in my previous job I had more time to waist than my last. Maybe I'll start reading more if my next one allows me to. I did always feel though that there's little disadvantage to sites with scheduled publications to post them a bit earlier so the people who wake before the US does can start on them.

I really like The Command Zone, I also enjoy when a new Game Knights comes out. The stuff I read on a weekly basis (that haven't already been mentioned in the thread) are Bennie Smith at Starcitygames (http://www.starcitygames.com/tags/BennieSmith), Shattered Perceptions (https://www.hipstersofthecoast.com/shattered-perceptions/) and the new Dear Azami (https://www.hipstersofthecoast.com/dear-azami/) at Hipsters Of The Coast, Convertible Commander (https://www.coolstuffinc.com/a/?tagged[]=convertible%20commander) and Stephen Johnson (https://www.coolstuffinc.com/a/?tagged[]=stephen%20johnson) at GatheringMagic.

I do not think you mean to provide that link, because that does not load for me and is probably for your own blog control panel.

Did you mean this one instead? https://misadventuresinmagic.wordpress. ... h-my-life/

Shameless plug #2; a friend asked me to build a deck for him, on a budget:

Krav Maga
