:D

Weirdly, i prefer that dino as part of the 99, where I can "fetch" it or just drop it off a good draw early, seems a little vanilla as the Commander, thought it has a "Tasigur" feel to it with the cost reduction.

I want that dino. In the decks I build, he's easier to cast for 2 than you might think.

The idea that you should be able to build your deck however you want and still be competitive is false, and a bad idea to have. Taken to the extreme, that's like making a deck with no removal in it, and then complaining that you can't win because stuff your opponents play gets in your way.

Dino legend doesn't actually devour anything though :(

Was chatting with my friend about the card, I think a cool ability would have been:

Convoke.

When Ghalta ETB, destroy all tapped creatures.

I'd like a Dino that came in and ate an opponent's creature for a +1/+1 counter.

I'm trying to rationalise my dislike for this card over and above it simply hosing one of my decks and I think saying it hoses a complete card type is enough of a reason.
Luckily, outside of against PW heavy decks, it's just incidental hosing, but I can't say I'm a fan of the smorgasboard of bonuses in addition to hosing a particular card type.

A Howling Mine (usually {2}), an anthem (usually {1CC}), a cost reduction (usually a specific card type at {1C] or {3}) and hosing a card type seems like a LOT mashed together for just 6 generic mana.

I would have loved to have seen a flavourful "PW can't activate loyalty abilities and become non-PW creatures with p/t = current loyalty".

Don't get too excited just yet... I'm not sure Ixalan was long enough after Kaladesh that they could have put a U/R Artifact Commander in the set. Could be wrong, but I wouldn't get all hopeful :P

I'm trying to understand how much I disagree with this assessment. I love this card.

In the last 5+ yrs, the "anthem effect" has become the "cantrip text" for rare/mythic artifacts (e.g. Spear of Heliod - oh it's legendary, lets add anthem to that unique effect; Vanquisher's Banner, Caged Sun, Eldrazi Monument, etc.)

I've long wanted a single Howling mine and Medallion effect (kind of the artifact equiv. of Rites of Flourishing). I'm not a Planeswalker fan (not that I dislike them, I just think they are very over-used - at least on MTGO). I think I would like this more if the loyalty-hosing effect was moderated a bit (so it wasn't such a big target), but mostly I think its a great new addition.
