Also curious how that would change over a larger sample size. I feel like a lot of discussion is had on how overly popular and powerful U/G decks are. These numbers suggest otherwise.

But this doesn't strictly tabulate power level or win results, so there's that too.

My current meta is hardly any UG, though. Besides the 5 different Atraxas that come in and out.

I am unsurprised to find the 2013 commanders among them (Prossh, Nekusar, Oloro), as I consider them the most powerful block of Commander ever printed.

This is the polite way of saying it. :)

I'll be honest though; I'm not sure what Breya is doing there. I bet her popularity drops off precipitously.

She is decent as the long-awaited UR artefact commander, and obviously the only choice for it at the moment. When another Legendary creature supporting artefacts is released in those colours, some people will probably switch to it.

If they printed a better artifact commander than Breya, it would have to be completely back-breaking. She so easy to combo and win with.

Perhaps some players are not looking for the easiest card to combo with?

Since there was a call for a larger sample size, I'll put up everything that exceeded 600.

1. Atraxa, Praetors' Voice (1652)
2. Oloro, Ageless Ascetic (1464)
3. Meren of Clan Nel Toth (1433)
4. Nekusar, the Mindrazer (1163)
5. Breya, Etherium Shaper (1150)
6. Prossh, Skyraider of Kher (1041)
7. Sidisi, Brood Tyrant (995)
8. Narset, Enlightened Master (977)
9. Kaalia of the Vast (969)
10. Marchesa, the Black Rose (955)
11. Karador, Ghost Chieftain (952)
12. Omnath, Locus of Rage (929)
13. Alesha, Who Smiles at Death (894)
Derevi, Empyrial Tactician (894)
15. Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder (874)
16. Animar, Soul of Elements (869)
17. Ezuri, Claw of Progress (865)
18. Ghave, Guru of Spores (859)
19. Brago, King Eternal (854)
20. Riku of Two Reflections (838)
21. Mizzix of the Izmagnus (817)
22. Roon of the Hidden Realm (772)
23. Tasigur, the Golden Fang (743)
24. Scion of the Ur-Dragon (736)
Zedruu the Greathearted (736)
26. Zurgo Helmsmasher (725)
27. Mayael the Anima (716)
28. Marath, Will of the Wild (700)
29. The Mimeoplasm (689)
30. Maelstrom Wanderer (688)
31. Kynaois and Tiro of Meletis (666)
32. Xenagos, God of Revels (662)
33. Krenko, Mob Boss (654)
34. Sharuum the Hegemon (647)
35. Daretti, Scrap Savant (624)
36. The Gitrog Monster (622)
37. Melek, Izzet Paragon (618)
38. Child of Alara (615)
39. Damia, Sage of Stone (613)
40. Kruphix, God of Horizons (604)

Admittedly, there are quite a few orphaned decks in there (exhibit A: plenty of decks still have Prophet of Kruphix in them). So I'm suddenly not sure how accurately EDHRec's count reflects actual popularity. Even so, I think I expected to see something in the gestalt list of popular commanders, but didn't.

I'm building a 4 colour artifact deck and I'm not using Breya because I'm not building a combo deck. Sydri, Galvanic Genius is more the type of commander I want for the deck.

I helped a friend build a Breya deck that's a synergy deck (a cumulative effect over many cards as opposed to a specific combo - in case we define our terms differently) and she's still quite oppressive.

I meant more that for people to switch away from Breya, the new one would have to be equally good or better. Access to more colors hurts nothing except the mana base requirements.

@skynight

Perhaps recent views, in this case last month, says something about current popularity: https://edhrec.com/commanders/#thismonth

Interesting to see that the only mono color decks in the top 40 are Red. The supposed weakest color in the format.

Monored is crazy fun to build. I have 2 and would build more.

Monored is getting easier with the new Commander/tuck rules and cards like Feldon being made.

That depends how you define "better". If by "better" you mean "even easier to win with" then I disagree.
