I'm guessing you're joking, but just in case you are serious, the line "0 colors" should be interpreted as "1 colorless," for 28 total decks.

The bigger question to me is why is there only one Nephilim deck.
Segrus wrote:
So I built a colorless deck that I'm not really happy about, but it will count I suppose.

Yeah, none of the few colorless Commanders have really appealed to me at all so far. I guess new Kozilek sits in a fairly sweet spot of good-but-not-going-to-break-the-playgroup. You can even run a self-mill theme and add Trading Post to turn him into a really bad Ertai, the Corrupted: if you have every CMC artifact in your graveyard from 0 to 10, you can counter most (non-X-in-their cost) spells by paying what Ertai's ability costs (except that you must sacrifice a creature, whereas Ertai could sac Hatching Plans), and you also pay that spells CMC, and you open yourself up to graveyard hate. The advantage that Kozi has is that he doesn't require a tap, but since Trading Post does, this "combo" shows how colorless permission is not going to take over any playgroups anytime soon.

I was tempted to build all 5 4-color options, but I don't care for all the Nephilim and as they fall in the area of not legal but almost everyone is okay with you playing them I think 1 is fine.

Have you considered Commandeer in your Sen Triplets deck? That way you could still get one of the key spells an opponent might play before it gets back around to your turn.

In my list i wanted to avoid nicking everything off everyone. The way i play it, if they have cast it, its theirs, if not. It's MINE!! wooohahahaha

That reduces some of the bad feels that card theft produces in games, plus it leads to them wasting all their mana tapping out to jam stuff that you may want dead, or exiled, or wrathed etc etc. I love the Sakashima and strionic resonator tech though. Totally adding those!!

I too have ignored the Nephilim. I do like them, but with them not being 'proper legends' (as in they are basically honorary legends to most of us) i haven't built them. Although i do think they occupy some nice design space. Being able to play more split cards is at least a nice bonus of the Nephilim. Plus their abilities are pretty shiny

Thought I'd post a pick of all of our decks together, now that we're shy the last color combination.

Some of them don't fit in the box... :(

Well, looks like I actually did manage to get a deck of every color combination (minus the four-color combos, and I likely won't make any of them). Add to that a couple other decks I built along with that one, I'm at around 43 fully built decks now. Good lands are stretched so thin, it's not even funny. And there's still a couple of other decks I'm thinking about putting together.

I suppose it's weird for one person to own so many decks, but the reason is complex. I really like playing, and I like deckbuilding. When I first started, a lot of people asked me what kind of 'mage' I am; that is, what color of Magic do I like the most. The answer is: yes. I don't have one color, I appreciate all of them. I like having the opportunity to play all of them. Further, I like other people to have the opportunity to play as well. So when someone says they can't play for not owning a deck, I respond, "Ah, so have your choice from mine and let's play!" I know I'm weird, but I don't mind in the least.

Not so weird man, I own 25 decks and my mates own around 2-4 each. We usually roll dice for which deck we are playing. Yes I have weird D & D dice for this purpose, a D3, all the way to a D30

Merely 43? Ah, to be young again... Beyond 70 here (72-74 approx). But it is problematic. It is hard to remember the contents of each deck, as some of them see little playtime.

70ish, huh? Awesome. I don't think you having more necessarily detracts from what I've said. 43 (44 as of last night) is still about 40 more than what most people seem to consider reasonable.

So. Yeah. Here's the thing: on another plateau of the Internet I visit periodically, I happened upon someone who had just finished the 32 deck challenge. I offered some congratulations and offered to share a list of decks I'd built...so ended up spending like two hours digging through my deck trunk to catalog all of my decks, give them a name (if it didn't already have an official one), and label them according to their strategy.

I recalled this thread and thought I might share the list here. This isn't to gloat; I don't see the value in it. I don't even really consider myself a great deckbuilder, because most of what I know is from being lucky or mimicking general strategies I've read about. I have so much work to do on these, please don't judge me on how bad they probably look. I'll try to add general strategies to each of these in the next day or so. Honestly surprised I still have the challenge completed. Many of the combinations I have really meant to build more for, especially 4-color, but I can't put the pieces together on what they would look like.

This is one of those things I keep meaning to get back to and never do...

I'm planning on replacing Kaalia with Mardu Vampires (based mostly on the pre-con which is suprisingly good)

As a result of that, I'm going to replace Grixis Vampires (which was always awful) with Grixis....something. Maybe Pirates although the pool isn't really that deep (pun more or less intended). Maybe Grixis spellslinging.

Also Damia has been retired; she briefly morphed into my Un-Commander deck by just stuffing the best Sultai silver bordered cards I had into it - it was a pile but it was pretty entertaining. As detailed on another thread here, I want to try Sultai Storm here but am at a serious block about how to even go about building it as a lot of the "good" storm stuff is Red.

Which brings me to four-colour, now that we have legit four-colour commanders.

I have the Kynaios and Tiro deck, and that'll be morphed a little so that's non-black taken care of.

Non-white may well be the storm deck I want to build.

Non-red, non-green, and non-blue I have literally no idea about...

A lot of the good storm cards are Red? I mean...Grapeshot I could see being argued as the best, but Tendrils is the more classic storm card. And all the storm build up cards are pretty much Black or Artifacts...

Non-blue took the longest for me. I'm still not entirely satisfied with either of my Saskia decks, but the Tetherball one seems like it's at least coherent enough to work for now. Non-green was easy, as Breya gave me the opportunity to play as many artifact combos as I could fit in one deck. Non-red was equally easy, because I didn't have a planeswalker deck and I also had been wanting to build saproling/fungus tribal. That being said, I need to rework non-white since the interaction between cascade and split cards got changed.

Maybe you could try playing off the new Nicol Bolas card for Grixis? And yeah, that Vampire precon is actually pretty strong out of the box.

Yeah not the actual storm cards as such (although I love me a big Ignite Memories) but the rituals and so on.

Which build-up artifacts are you talking about?

Basically I want to build up a big storm count and Mind's Desire my way to victory (so the win con doesn't necessarily have to be a storm card itself)

Well...I mean normally storm is either based on untap effects and High Tide, Ad Nauseam, or Doomsday. I don't really see High Tide combo in Commander, though I suppose it's probably possible. In any case, Doomsday is traditionally driven through Lion's Eye Diamond. Ad Nauseam doesn't work on a small number of cards though, seeking instead to basically draw most of your deck and immediately play all those cards. This can be done in mono-Black with a large number of low-CMC artifacts which tap for mana and Black rituals (Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual, Culling the Weak, and maybe Lake of the Dead). Those artifacts are your usual suspects--Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Grim Monolith...

To Mind's Desire your way to victory, you'll probably need to set up casting/recasting infinite spells since actually hitting enough stuff to claim victory takes a really, really big storm count (I've tried doing it without infinite spells, you just end up hitting a lot of land). But it's very likely I'm just bad at building storm.

That being said, Isochron Scepter and Dramatic Reversal and/or Paradox Engine makes this more possible now. I'd forgotten about them until now.
