Can we keep this alive through ill-advised spending?

I bought a judge foil Imperial Seal

Nice. Was it an impulse or were you shopping for one?

My biggest issue with Imperial Seal is the name doesn't match the card. I wish they had done something other than a tutor.

Well...

I just received this order. This was the second batch of Aether Revolt cards, because I was dumb enough to forget to include Scrap Trawler in my previous order. And that was the main reason to order, so yeah... Anyway, I was happy to find that Scrap Trawler has a promo version, so I impulse bought that one. Looking in the promo section I found a reasonably cheap Shamanic Revelation promo (nice green card draw, can't possibly go wrong with that one... although I'm not even playing it in any of my decks atm). I managed to keep off that Go for the throat and Hero's Downfall promo's (which I'm not playing in any deck either). While I was at it I bought some AER cards I overlooked the previous time, plus some cards with synergy with Scrap Trawler like Commander's Sphere and Dreamstone Hedron. And, sorry for the long intro, a Hedron Archive.

Somehow this shop was out of regular Hedron Archives, so I bought an regular foil Hedron Archives. Now, I don't care for non-promo foils. I'm looking at the card now, and I can barely see it's foil. To make it worse, it was just as expensive as the Scrap Trawler promo. An impulse buy if there ever was one...

On the bright side, I couldn't really decide if I should include that promo Mind Stone (with Descartes quote, pity Wizards doesn't do real life quotes anymore) or Hedron Archive, and this ridiculous acquisition makes it easier to choose.

Lately I've started making impulse buys after limited events when I lose. Typically simple stuff like foil basics, though last week I bought an Ulamog the infinite gyre, and this past sunday I picked up an ENM Gisela, both cards various EDH decks of mine needed. I figure it's better than buying consolation packs.

I needed a Cataclysmic Gearhulk for the Gaddock Teeg deck I wanted to play at our Commander event a day later. I find out a local (online) store has it, so I ring them to see if I can do local pickup. I can and when I get in it's waiting for me. I decide to have a quick look at their stock and eventually walk out with the Gearhulk, 3 Goblin Settlers and 2 Zodiac Dragons. I ended up never seeing the Gearhulk during the event.

Heh, aint that how it goes? I stuck my Diamond Valley in a deck. Played the deck a half dozen times or so and haven't seen it once.

For the first year or so I had Brightflame in my Mayael deck, must've played 20+ games, it did not even show up a single time. Eventually I took the hint and replaced it. At the event I just played Gaddock Teeg once, though I did draw like half my deck, so t wasn't totally unlikely not to see the Gearhulk.

As a collector I was happy with the other cards I bought. Got them to celebrate that I have a new job.

I had no idea that it existed until I saw it in a facebook sale-group, and then I bought one from the first seller that got back to me with a 'reasonable' price ($165 USD shipped via registered mail).

It might be my most impulsive buy ever. The shortest time ever from purchase ideation to actualization. Sometimes I pace around about it first, or try to find a cheaper price.

That said, I have *always* wanted an Imperial Seal once I heard they existed, and I very much lamented that when I first heard of them they were $300+. This is as cheap as they will ever get (I think).

Congratulations. The best thing about new jobs is the excuse to buy yourself stuff. Usually I buy an new video card (but since I don't change jobs often I have a lot of other excuses to buy crap for my computer).

Thanks!

I try to avoid digital gaming as I am already behind a computer way too often, but I did splurge on a few tabletop games and some speakers too.

If Wizards would reprint Seal again it's going considerably lower. Thinking they won't get cheaper pretty much correlates with thinking it'll never be reprinted again. It will probably be quite a while, but, I would expect that it will be reprinted again at some point. Don't regret your purchase because of that, given enough time any non-reserved card could be reprinted and it may be many years before it happens to this card again.

Went for a couple of Aether Revolt cards I wanted and ended up adding a couple of Masterpieces to the shopping cart.

Now I have 4, I kind of want about 15.

Why?

Partly because I once had this fantasy I'd be able to play vintage. Reality kind of got in the way of that.

The other part is... I don't know. I really like it. Maybe I'm one of those degenerates who really likes tutors.
