You know, your self-depricating humor and willingness to poke occasional fun at yourself makes your more troll-y tendencies far more palatable. A lot of people around here give you shit, and occasionally you really do deserve it, but I personally wouldn't mind playing you IRL. (At least once. After that, who knows?) I can think of a number of names I'd truly love to avoid meeting IRL - you aren't one of them.

Joz, let's keep it clean in the thread. You can have happy pants elsewhere.

I'm curious, what types of prizes would you like if you were to attend this event?

A shop in my area hosted nearly this exact same tournament with a few rule changes: they didn't include either Edric or Ancient Tomb. Also, they allowed side boards, 4 proxies, and left the life total at 40. Anyway, at least kudos for being able to actually pay attention to the French rule set.

Anyway, the prizes they had were Commander's Arsenal for first place, and FTV: Realms for second, third, and fourth. Just thought I would throw that out there, since the tournaments seemed similar.

Thanks Segrus, I am getting a little blowback from trying to use the French / Duel Commander banned list and rules.

I am using them because they were developed for a reason.

Thanks for the input.

Mostly, I think the French rule set is interesting, but not to be taken lightly. They were developed specifically for the people with this mindset:

"Magic is about competition. EDH is no different, and people should stop trying to force it into being solely about having fun. Duel Commander is not about having fun."

Now, I'm not trying to rile up people's feathers, because the above isn't entirely my own words. The banned list this shop was using quoted a website. On the website, I believe what is closer to the person's words were, "Forget about EDH being fun." I don't entirely agree with this, especially whenever it is used to purposefully mislead people (this store didn't really inform casual players that Duel Commander is competitive, and bringing decks based around multiplayer doesn't work; in essence, they were just letting people give them money for nothing).

So if you are getting blow-back from using these rules, is it maybe because the players are more used to a casual environment?

Well, good luck.

We are a little over a week away from the event! Anyone doing any play testing of their decks?

The question came up about mulligans...

This event will follow the normal Paris Mulligan rule - if you don't like your hand you may reshuffle it into your library and draw one less card.

This will reduce combo hunting, and require decks to have proper ratios of card types.
