I hear drawing 20+ cards a turn is pretty hot with this guy. Here's my take.

General
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind

Draw
Myojin of Seeing Winds
Mind's Eye
Mindmoil
Whirlpool Drake
Mulldrifter
Jushi Apprentice
Rhystic Study
Incendiary Command
Whirlpool Warrior
Farsight Mask
Magus of the Jar
Windfall
Ancestral Vision
Arcanis, the Omnipotent
Soramaro, First to Dream
Wheel of Fate
Brainstorm
Teferi's Puzzle Box
Kami of the Crescent Moon
Heightened Awareness
Aeon Chronicler
Jace Beleren
Honden of Seeing Winds
Howling Mine
Font of Mythos

Board Control
Capsize
Portcullis
Evacuation
Honden of Infinite Rage
Flametongue Kavu
Keiga, the Tide Star
Meishin, the Mind Cage
Blatant Thievery
Wipe Away
Proteus Staff
Electrolyze
Venser, Shaper Savant

Other stuff
Time Stop
Tormod's Crypt
Wild Ricochet
Reito Lantern
Meloku, the Clouded Mirror
Trade Routes
Library of Leng
Ivory Tower
Vedalken Orrery
Fog Bank
Radiate
Reiterate
Sculpting Steel

Mana
Gilded Lotus
Seething Song
Darksteel Ingot
Fellwar Stone
Mind Stone
Mana Vault
Simian Spirit Guide
Sol Ring
Izzet Signet

Land
Basics
Izzet Boilerworks
Vivid Creek
Volcanic Island
Steam Vents
Cascade Bluffs
Bloodstained Mire
Wooded Foothills
Esper Panorama
Bant Panorama
Terminal Moraine
Blasted Landscape
Lonely Sandbar
Remore Isle
Forgotten Cave
Academy Ruins
Cephalid Coliseum
Ghost Quarter
Minamo, School at Water's Edge
Kher Keep
Reliquary Tower

Play Niv-Mizzet, draw lots of cards. Sounds easy, right?
Howling Mine, Font of Mythos, Jace, Kami, Awareness are there to ensure a steady flow of cards in your upkeep/draw phase. Puzzle box often doubles the draw for Big Niv whilst hindering opponent's ideas for the long game. Mindmoil is Puzzlebox number 2 and can almost win games on it's own. Add in a few things to survive the attacking onslaught (Fog Bank, Ivory Tower, Meishin) and you're good to go.

Thoughts, criticisms and opinions are welcome. Let me know what you think.

I believe if you use the search function, that there are a bunch of lists people have posted to help you.

At first glance though, I realize that you are missing Curiosity and its 3 mana counterpart. You are also missing Mind over matter. If you are going to run a general that gives you a target, you might as well try and go infinte.

One thing that I don't like about niv though is that it is kinda hard to kill all the players in a 3+ player game.

I am intentionally not running Curiostiy and Ophidian Eye. I had them in the original build and it was just boring when they get drawn. It's like, "Oh. I just won". Kinda anticlimactic. Same reason I am not running MoM.

I find it easy enough to kill multiple people. With all the Reliquary Tower/Puzzle Box shenanigans going on, it's quite east to take someone out every turn.

Okay, that I didn't know. How about wheel of fortune, time spiral, diminishing returns, or other draw 7's?

If I could get the draw 7's, I would run them. Need to go looking now.........

Tolarian Winds would be amazing in this IMO you could deal ridiculous amounts of dmg. since you will have no max handsize with reliquary tower. Also I might throw in Tolria West so you can search for you important lands!

Niv isn't banned. I also don't play ophidian eye and curiosity. I still have to test this in multiplayer and against beatdown decks, but so far it seems fine for me. I've played against GAAIV with ton of counters and won 3 rounds. I'm using grim monolith/power artifact to gain infi mana, spend tem on mind spring/stroke of genious/staff of domination/braingeyser to draw entire deck and if that is not enough there are time stretch and temporal cascade(played with entwine cost) and that is enough for doing the trick again. Also,I would like to know how you play agains creature heavvy deck? I have vedalken shackles, oblivion stone, sigil of sleep, charisma, venser, capsize, spin into myth to match those attacks. Is it too much?

Tarix: I find I don't have enough pieces of creature control. I usually rely on Meishin or my ability to whine until someone else gets attacked. The line "If you attack him instead of me, I can kill X for you." Works like a charm at times :P

btw, cereal was my account until it broke :(

Do you have a decklist to share?

Is there a specific reason why Thought Reflection isn't in here? Seems pretty good to me.

Also, Empyrial Plate could win a lot of games for you.

i'm currently bouncing between this kind of build or a tibor and lumia blight-sickle control, eye of the storm win. this looks fun though, i might try it...

winds of change? its a fun card. the looter's dig for fun stuff too.

forced fruition could be fun, "i'm drawing alot of cards, and you are too!"

@onewheelwizzard: I must have completely blanked on Thought Reflection. In it goes! I tend to win with Niv's ability more than attacking. The Plate would be a dead card most of the time.

@overgeneral_thoril: Recently got a Winds of Change and added it. I shall update the original post's decklist soon. Looter's aren't too hot as they only draw 1 card a turn and are very easily killed. There's a lot of removal in my meta. Why play Forced Fruition? I get a bonus from Niv for having a huge hand, why should I give my opponents a chance to keep up with it?

Ok, as I'm not the "OP" any more, I'll have to re-do the decklist here.

General
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind

Draw
Myojin of Seeing Winds
Mind's Eye
Mindmoil
Whirlpool Drake
Mulldrifter
Thought Reflection
Jushi Apprentice
Rhystic Study
Incendiary Command
Whirlpool Warrior
Farsight Mask
Magus of the Jar
Windfall
Ancestral Vision
Arcanis, the Omnipotent
Soramaro, First to Dream
Wheel of Fate
Brainstorm
Teferi's Puzzle Box
Kami of the Crescent Moon
Heightened Awareness
Aeon Chronicler
Jace Beleren
Honden of Seeing Winds
Howling Mine
Font of Mythos
Winds of Change
Trade Routes

Board Control
Capsize
Portcullis
Evacuation
Honden of Infinite Rage
Vedalken Shackles
Keiga, the Tide Star
Meishin, the Mind Cage
Blatant Thievery
Wipe Away
Proteus Staff
Venser, Shaper Savant
Meloku, the Clouded Mirror
Wall of Vapor
Fog Bank

Other stuff
Time Stop
Tormod's Crypt
Wild Ricochet
Reito Lantern
Library of Leng
Ivory Tower
Vedalken Orrery
Radiate
Reiterate
Sculpting Steel
Stifle

Mana
Gilded Lotus
Darksteel Ingot
Fellwar Stone
Mind Stone
Mana Vault
Sol Ring
Izzet Signet

Land
Vivid Creek
Cascade Bluffs
Steam Vents
Volcanic Island
Izzet Boilerworks
Forgotten Caves
Lonely Sandbar
Blasted Landscape
Remote Isle
Tolaria West
Bloodstained Mire
Wooded Foothills
Ghost Quarter
Reliquary Tower
Cephalid Coliseum
Kher Keep
Minamo, School at Water's Edge
Academy Ruins
8x Mountain
14x Island

It's only slightly different to the original, but looks to have a better game plan.

I've added in Shackles and upped the Island count by taking out the non-onslaught fetches, although in hindsight, that may be a mistake. Only time will tell, huh?

Should I add Miren to go alongside shackles? I do seem to have nearly no anti-aggro until mid-game and early life loss is a pain.

Is there amything glaringly obvious that I have missed, aside from Smoldering Crater which I just can't seem to find anywhere?
