My thoughts were to make a Sliver EDH deck that was just land and Slivers with Sliver Overlord as the General. I used to play this theme of only Slivers back years ago and it was pretty effective, but with multiples of certain, uber-slivers. I need some opinions on whether this is viable as an EDH casual deck, or if even casual EDH decks are going to whoop up on this.

Obviously, I could add in Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, various Planeswalkers, Fracturing Gust, Tempest of Light, Shatterstorm, Unnatural Selection and such. But the true challenge is to let the hive fend for itself. However, in EDH, is that a mission impossible?

Even if you are going for a super casual theme deck, I think you would still need to use some mana fixing and acceleration in the way of land search.

Some good ones to consider are;
Kodama's Reach
Explosive Vegetation
Reap and Sow
Far Wanderings
Deep Reconnaissance
Harrow
Shard Convergence

All good suggestions. What I'm grappling with here is that 60+ Slivers gives you about 50+ different abilities once you weed out the repeats on boosting and such. No other tribe can boast that inherent power without adding enchantments.

Every card I add means one less Sliver ability that stays unless I'm taking out repeat abilities (which is a very possible thing). Throwing search in gives me the ability to get what I need, but again that limits what the hive can do, and overlapping boosts make the hive much more survivable.

One problem I've had with Slivers in the past is that they are inherently weak in */*. Which means I have to wait to go aggressive unless I get boosters or something else that allows for big slivers. So that means I just sit around building numbers until I can swarm them, which gets pretty damn boring.

With this many different slivers, I'm hoping to get useable strategies that can be used quickly instead of sitting on my thumbs waiting for a wrath to wreck my day.

Enchantments such as Opposition make that more possible, so I will probably end up with Slivers and enchantments more than anything else, but was just wanting to know if Slivers only is viable.

Well, Basal Sliver, Gemhide Sliver, Firewake Sliver, and Sliver Queen provide you with infinite mana of any color and infinite slivers. You can replace the Firewake Sliver with a Heart Sliver or Reflex Sliver.

Acidic Sliver can be used for a combo win condition.

Beyond that, I would suggest things that protect you from wrath effects. Maybe play Living Death or Patriarch's Bidding or Pyrrhic Revival (have to have a sliver that pumps up defense) or Twilight's Call.

You could also play other tutor effects to get some slivers online without needing to cast your Overlord.

Add Door of Destinies and Coat of Arms. I would also run more land - you probably want around 35-38.

Add some mass recursion. The local Sliver Overlord guy (whose deck I built :P) runs Living Death, Living End, Twilight's Call, and even All Hallows' Eve. Genesis can't hurt either.

Slivers is very viable. The only way to stop our local guy is to wrath his board at least 3 times.

Whatever you do, don't take out any of the haste slivers. Giving all your guys haste is incredibly good and very underrated.

The recursion is nice. There's a couple things in there that I had not seen before, so great suggestions. I think I'll first try slivers only to see how they work solo before deciding what to put into the deck, though the recursion is likely the first to go in there, since mass removal is likely going to be used quickly and often to keep me under control.

The lands are just the ones I have cuz i dont wanna spend money on expensive lands so don't pay attention to them.

The deck is pretty much a combo deck that is very hard to disrupt if you have a lot of mana.

There are lots of combos.

1. basal sliver/sliver queen/gemhide/sliver that gives haste
Make a lot of dudes and swing. If they have something like solitary confinement it doesn't matter because you can just search up something like psionic sliver or acidic sliver. If you have out sliver overlord (which you probly will if you are able to assemble the combo) you can search for every sliver in your deck and play it and do fun things like destroy all of their permanents with necrotic or draw lots of cards with dormant.

2. intruder alarm/gemhide sliver/ a few other slivers
Tap your creatures for mana. play a dude. untap them all. tap for more mana. play general. untap creatures. search for a cheap sliver. play it. Rinse and repeat. Pretty much play the whole deck and win.

3. mana echoes/sliver queen
Make a dude. get 1 mana. make another. get 2. Pretty much make infinite creatures and infinite colorless mana.

4. Wild pair/dormant sliver
Just draws lots of cards and probly win if you get a gemhide sliver.

5. (personal favorite) Mirrorweave/virulent sliver
Poison FTW

I hope this helps in making your deck.

hmmm, interesting combos. I'm going to guess the guys in your local metagame hate slivers, no? Personally, I've never felt I have to go infinite to crush people (though that clearly doesn't hurt your chances :P )

A card like Opposition is something more along the lines of what I like to play, but that's part of what I'm doing, getting a good sampling of smart spells/enchantments that I can put a few in for win conditions without diluting the hive too much. Intruder Alarm has killed me a number of times years ago when it was new in type II and is something I can use in the EDH metagame in my area, while substituting it out when I play casually with my friends (they don't appreciate infinite combos, and their decks couldn't handle them anyway).

Great ideas.

If every sliver has the poison ability (because it's a sliver), then how would Mirrorweave help? It doesn't allow five slivers (including the virulent sliver) to suddenly distribute five poison counters per hit, does it? That's the only reason you would actually play this card.

I guess I don't understand.

Yes it does.

If you were hit by 5 Virulent Slivers(because 4 more of your slivers have been turned into Virulent Slivers by Mirrorweave), each one would have an instance of Poison from each-other Virulent Sliver. Basically, the instances of poison granted by a virulent sliver stack.

Hmm, so then a sliver that allows you to draw a card when it damages an opponent in combat gives every other sliver the same ability. Add in Mirrorweave, and suddenly five slivers allows each sliver to draw you five cards upon damaging an opponent? (same idea)

I think you should keep the slivers+land model. It's obviously not the optimal configuration for any sliver deck, but it's interesting, uniqute, and seems like it'd be fun to play. Regardless, you do need more than 33 lands. If you have fetchlands, you should throw those in.

I didn't see Survival of the Fittest in either list. That card is nuts in a sliver deck. Especially one running mass recursion!!

End of Line

Well, yes and no.

If you add land tutors, Kodama's Reach, for example, then you're slightly less likely to draw a land when you want to draw a sliver, and it helps solve mana problems.
