hamletback goliath, avatar of fury, miraculous recovery? lightning helix is kind of eh, being a one time shot for a relatively meager effect (in a 40 life game).

I tested my Brion deck and I must say I underestimated how powerful firebreathing turned out to be with Brion. Attack, pump, fling. I had a really big turn with Brion and red-Akroma so I'll be looking for some others.

Am I crazy for thinking about Fiery Mantle for adding firebreathing? It doesn't suffer from the inherent card disadvantage of other auras, but it doesn't swing for 4 once like Homura. Comes online for cheaper. Hmmm.

I wish I had a Figure of Destiny. :(

I intentionally swapped Threaten for Blind With Anger specifically for its Sunforgerworthyness. It doesn't grab Generals, though.

I just made the deck last weekend, after trading for two weeks.
Now I'm testing it.

-Yosei is indeed great. On my watchlist.
I try to play more red then white, to have an optimal use of firebreathing. But a card like yosei is too good of course.

-avatar is nice. I missed that card. I hope I can find him.

-hamletback doesn't convince me. It's too obvious. It will be killed first before someones plays another creature.

-recovery. Maybe. But I don't know if I'll keep playing cards to return creatures.
It's just an extra +1/+1 counter.

-lightning helix. Better then you think. I found it very useful.
And by the way, we start with 30 life!

*Kills azorius guildmage, rafiq, other small annoying creatures...
*if there are no small creatures, great combat trick
*If no creatures can get killed, lifeswing of six! which is rather important in this deck, I found out.
*I discovered the diplomatic importance of this card. In our group, players who have low life, when others have much life, are left alone some time, and often they can rebuild, and sometimes they also win the game. Everybody knows it, but it happens all the time.
So with lightning helix I can do two things:
1) if I'm low on life, I can protect myself if someone tries to finish me of with a few tokens. Oops, extra three life, I'm not dead yet!
2) if someone else is low on life, and then he comes back, with a huge army, spell, whatever... I can kill him on instant speed. Or I can threaten to do that, convincing him to kill another player (which is good for me too!).

-firebreathing is really nice. underestimated in multiplays :p.
Everybody thinks that players want to use the mana to play spells, but in EDH, it's sometimes better to wait to play other spells. Let the dragon do his thing, until someone plays a wog.
And haste is certainly underrated.

I'm searching for an anger, insurrection and jitte (just sold my jitte), wog, ...

Ooh, and the figure of destiny, that is just luck. Find a casual player who opened figure in his booster. The guy is happy to have an expensive rare, so he can get a lot rares for it. Not a rip off, I lost a lot of cards that I just don't use anymore.
both happy.

Unfortunately, I am that casual player. I just never managed to crack open a FoD. (Jitte, Kokusho, foil Darksteel Colossus, sure.)

Captive Flame / Ghitu War Cry is a pretty darn good source of re-usable firebreathing.

I would keep Lightning Helix in the deck. Spot removal is always appreciated...and it's Sunforger fetch-able! No one ever said you have to be a slave to your theme =P

Helix and Swords to Plowshares are great things to grab with Sunforger.

(I don't mean to take over the thread, but it sounds like I've got much the same kind of deck as pacman)

I love my Adarkar Valkyrie.

If we're doing a bigger firebreathing theme, are the sunglasses a waste of a spot? [/url]

Yeah Sunforger is really good, there's unbelievably amounts of things you can fetch with it from Oblation to Return to Dust to Swords to Lightning Helix to you name it.

Thanks for the tips on Wild Ricochet and Reiterate. You can buy that back if you fetch it with Sunforger.

My Brion deck runs a white EDH standard Condemn. Oblation is also very underrated in a pinch. I would recommend skull-clamp over deathrender. Skullclamp adds an extra point to a creature when flung and refills your hand (not to mention it's much faster).

I won't include my whole decklist but Archon of Justice is great deterrant while not being obnoxiously good like Spike Weaver.

Lastly, I began playing Brion trying to get him out early, giving him haste, and trying to push damage and life-gain through. That usually made me a big target in multi-player without much success. It has evolved now to more control and disruption early with big finishers for the late game (ie: Brion + Serra Avatar).

You can Entwine Grab the Reins off a Sunforger, too.

Yes, cool tricks.

I did the flinging trick with the ajani token.
Make token, equip greaves. Attack one.
Then play brion, equip greaves and fling token on second player.
I used only 5 mana to kill two players :p.

lightning greaves is too good.

I find out I need a certain creature that flings when a creature goes to the graveyard, and it has haste!

I never thought this deck would be so much fun.
